Revised and updated from the author's 1999 masters thesis at UNAM. Over 28 kilometers of lava tubes have been mapped in the flow from the Suchiooc Volcano in the Sierra Chichinautzin south of Mexico City. These include the systems Iglesia-Mina Superior (5,278 meters) and Ferrocarril-Mina Inferior (6,538 meters), the two longest lava tubes in the Americas.

Jointly published with the Sociedad Mexicana de Exploraciones Subterráneas as SMES Boletín 6.
